Digital SAT Grammar: Practice Questions
Strategy
- Read the sentence and surrounding context.
- Identify what is being tested (grammar rule, clarity, conciseness, etc.).
- Eliminate answers that create errors (subject-verb, punctuation, wordiness, etc.).
- Pick the most concise, correct, and relevant option.
- Reread with your answer to check fluency and correctness.
- Beware of “no change”—is it truly the best?
- Look for SAT traps: comma splices, misplaced modifiers, wrong tense, etc.
- Move on quickly if unsure; flag and come back if time allows.
Worked Example
Question
The students was preparing for the final exam.
Which of the following best replaces the underlined portion?
Process & Answer
- Check agreement: "students" is plural, so "were" matches.
- Other options: "was" (singular), "are" (present), "is" (singular/present)—don't match.
